Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time Housekeeping Worker to provide a safe, sanitary, and attractive environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Western State Hospital (WSH). The Housekeeping Worker will ensure bathrooms and shower rooms are cleaned daily; will replenish paper products; ensure all trash is removed daily; clean mirrors; ensure floors are mopped daily; and ensure walls and ceilings are cleaned as needed.
This position will also ensure windows, doors, and fixtures are cleaned as needed; dust mop and wet mop floors daily; remove trash; wipe down tables and chairs; clean windows, doors, and walls; dust mop and wet mop daily; conduct buffing weekly; and finish floors as needed.
This position is eligible for:
- Shift Differential on weekends
* Weekend/Holiday First shift 7:00a- 3:30p is $1.10/hr.

Minimum Qualifications
- General knowledge in cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, dayrooms, floor finishings, and cleaning/operating housekeeping equipment
- general skills in cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, dayrooms, floor finishings, and cleaning/operating housekeeping equipment
- read, write, perform basic math calculations, lift heavy objects, prolonged standing, walking on various surfaces, climb ladders, work on knees, and work in various conditions
Additional Considerations
- high school graduate or equivalent
- experience in housekeeping
- valid Virginia Driver's license
- bilingual
- veteran or veteran spouse
