Job Description

Who will you be working with?

Bloom Engineering, a Wabtec Company, improves the environmental sustainability and performance of industrial heating applications, with a strong focus on the aluminum and steel industries. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, USA, since 1934, Bloom Engineering serves a global customer base through subsidiaries in Germany, India, and China.

Leveraging deep expertise in furnace and heating applications, Bloom Engineering helps customers reduce CO₂ and NOₓ emissions, transition to sustainable fuel sources, increase production capacity, improve temperature uniformity, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance operating flexibility—delivering meaningful competitive advantage.

How will you make a difference?

Bloom Engineering Company is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to support customers throughout the United States. This role serves as a primary technical authority and customer-facing service representative, responsible for leading onsite commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and long-term support of industrial combustion and heating systems.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on technical expertise, strong customer relationship skills, and the ability to operate independently with scheduling and administrative support from the Field Service Coordinator. Effectiveness will require collaboration with U.S.-based engineering, sales, and service teams.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (90+% of travel will be in the US)
  • Able to write reports in English to summarize findings and work completed

Desired Characteristics

  • Extensive experience with industrial combustion systems, burners, furnaces, and heat-processing equipment
  • Strong background in calibration, configuration, and analysis of mechanical and electrical instrumentation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Experience following and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic
  • Strong working knowledge of PID control systems and industrial instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and field best practices
  • Advanced troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to operate independently while managing customer expectations and complex field assignments

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of new, existing, and retrofitted industrial combustion systems across the United States and occasionally internationally
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis on complex mechanical, electrical, and controls-related system issues
  • Review, adjust, and support PID loop programming in single- and multi-loop control systems
  • Utilize, interpret, and analyze data from electronic diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure and flow transmitters, and combustion analyzers
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison for customers, including plant operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and management
  • Provide expert technical recommendations to improve system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Mentor and support less-experienced service personnel, contractors, or local support resources as required
  • Collaborate closely with U.S.-based sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to resolve technical challenges and support ongoing projects
