Job Description

Visa is seeking a proactive commercial [senior] paralegal to join its growing legal team that supports Visa’s Global Product, IP and Services organizations. The position will report to a Senior Counsel, Visa Legal - Global Product, IP and Services.

The role includes responsibility for supporting Visa’s issuer processing platform as part of a small team of experienced legal professionals. Products and services may include Visa’s core product suite (credit, debit, prepaid, commercial), value-added services, network processing, mobile, digital, fraud, identity, and loyalty and offers. A primary focus of the role will be contract management including contract drafting and negotiation. The senior paralegal will work closely with other experienced Visa legal and compliance professionals, and regularly engage directly with business clients.

Visa Is Looking for Someone Who Will

  • Create contract templates and playbooks for a variety of products and services to support efficiency and ensure consistency with best practices and Visa policy

  • Draft, proofread, negotiate, and drive to completion complex commercial agreements, amendments, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements and other legal documentation, under attorney supervision

  • Draft and coordinate execution and delivery of client correspondence

  • Gather, organize, and maintain a precedent library

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including by acting as initial point of contact on specified matters

  • Conduct research assignments using internal and external resources

  • Review business documentation which is ancillary to contractual arrangements (e.g. service guides, etc.)

  • Work with Visa’s regional legal and business teams globally, to achieve consistency on contract approach by Visa worldwide

  • Provide support to business line and management on transactional legal matters and proposed sales activities and projects

  • Drive improved legal operations including workflow and prioritization management

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of an organized contract and matter intake process

  • Conduct trainings related to contract and other legal processes

  • Provide assistance on special projects

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
• Transactional background (corporate, commercial arrangements) with significant experience drafting and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements
• Applicable experience as a corporate paralegal, preferably with a top-tier international law firm or a global in-house legal department at a large company
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience,
