Job Description:
The Multi-Specialty Coding Associate is responsible for providing general coding expertise and advice to OO practice partners including physicians as well as to internal OneOncology team members. This role is responsible for supporting practices in the area of coding as well as audit and education.
Responsibilities
Advise practices and the RCM team on best practice coding including but not limited to E/M, radiology, urology, neurology and pathology, and oncology.
Provide coding support to practices, as needed with hands on coding and billing.
Analyze data, identify issues, reach conclusions, and propose strategies for resolution of complex coding issues, along with leadership. Meet with physicians to train on new lines of business and advise on charge capture workflows.
Responsible for researching billing and coding guidelines for multiple specialties. Advise the OO team and partners practices of coding changes,
Keep informed regarding current billing and coding regulations, auditing, professional standards and effectively apply and disseminate this knowledge.
Provide coding education and training as required.
Identifies process improvement opportunities that enhances the performance of the department/practice.
Audit documentation and prepare report cards for physician/practice leadership.
Partners with the management team to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
Review medial documentation for accuracy related to payer medical record requests as needed.
Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Qualifications for RCM Multi-Specialty Coding Specialist
CPC or other coding certification required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
3+ years of multi-specialty coding experience required
Oncology and E/M coding experience preferred
Demonstrated success in using data to make decisions and drive behavior change in support organizations.
