As our Internal Medicine service continues to grow, we’re seeking a dedicated Outpatient Technician to support a new Internist joining our team.

Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to ensure quality care for pets and promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical and administrative work. The Outpatient Veterinary Technician performs a variety of patient and client-care duties and conducts patient assessments and performs procedures and treatments. This person communicates clearly with the veterinarians, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the care they need. The Outpatient Veterinary Technician provides for patient and client comfort by keeping the hospital clean and presentable.

Compensation:
  • $22 - $34/hr, based on experience and skillset
Anticipated Schedule:
  • Full Time
  • 4 x 10-hour shifts weekly
  • Weekends/holidays as necessary
Essential Functions
  • Provides compassionate patient care and ensures comfort and hygiene
  • Monitors patient condition and alerts veterinarians to changes
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Follows protocols for contagious diseases and safe patient restraint
  • Assists with diagnostics, treatments, and procedures (e.g., catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia, endoscopy, CT scans)
  • Administers medications under veterinary or technician direction
  • Performs lab work, fills prescriptions, and processes medication refills
  • Admits and discharges patients for outpatient and inpatient care
  • Manages feeding, walking, and basic care for hospitalized patients
  • Packages and sends lab samples to external laboratories
  • Keeps the hospital clean, stocked, and organized
  • Launders linens and maintains a sanitary environment
  • Generates and communicates financial estimates for patient care
  • Takes initiative to assist teammates and stay productive during downtime
Additional duties
  • Assist in inventory counting and processing
  • Troubleshooting medical equipment
  • Assist in training veterinary assistants
