Job Description

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Quality Engineer with a strong background in operations, quality engineering, and customer service. This position will be responsible for quality, safety and compliance for consumer products, including toys, children’s products, apparel, print on demand, and licensed items sold through alternate channels (i.e., direct to consumer, live events, promotional items, distribution only, etc.). The staff quality engineer will work with internal and external stakeholders to establish and implement processes that ensure our products meet or exceed all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

 

  • Provide engineering expertise in the areas of quality, safety, and compliance for partners global supply chain, business teams, and external business partners.
  • As subject matter expert, support business in identifying the appropriate types of data and analysis to support decision making. 
  • Evaluate product proposals including design, material, and function to ensure products meet or exceed all of Mattel’s quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish QE processes to improve efficiency that supports the successful launch of compliant products.
  • Ensure the implementation of continuous improvement efforts, while maintaining compliance.
  • Build strong positive business relationships to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop methods of knowledge sharing to ensure understanding of Mattel QE requirements at all levels
  • Lead projects, ensuring transparency, timeliness, communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain high levels of personal accountability and professionalism.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to support collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of testing protocols with 3rd party labs for a variety of consumer product categories.
  • Mentor non-senior level Quality Engineers in effective cross-functional communication
  • Independently summarize and present data in a manner that clearly and concisely supports quality decisions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field.
  • Experience in operations, quality engineering, customer service, and working directly with 3rd party labs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for children’s and non-children’s consumer product categories, including apparel, print on demand, and licensed items.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of personal accountability and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with QE systems including Veeva, LIMS, CMD, and Polarion
  • Expertise in Quality Management documentation including product specifications, manufacturing operating procedures, and quality and safety operating procedures.
  • Experience with developing new systems and processes to support Quality Management.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.


The annual base salary range for this position is between $136,800 and $171,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
