JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching for a qualified Security Specialist to join our Security Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
You will:
Assist with the development of industrial security practices, procedures, processes trainings, and briefings, while ensuring compliance with government policies and regulations
Provide agile and efficient security support and customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in an extremely fast-paced, complex and rapidly evolving environment
Work autonomously in a very busy and highly service-driven environment
Prepare for and represent ARL in all aspects of security inspections and oversight by U.S. government (USG) agencies
This position will be filled as a level 2 or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for the level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
Required skills/experience areas include:
Demonstrated success handling classified materials
Microsoft Office software, databases, and web applications
Past success as a service-oriented team-player, with polished interpersonal and office skills
Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively in fast-paced environment
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Security, Risk Management/Analysis, Criminal Justice, Military Science, or Business Administration
Security Information Management System (SIMS)
Department of Defense (DoD) security systems such as DISS or NBIS
Government security clearance process and requirements
DoD or USG-based industrial security experience; as well as
Cyber and physical security principles, including sensitive and/or controlled information, electronic access controls, alarm systems, and video surveillance
