The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Assistant Director, Student Services plays a key role in supporting student success within the Dyson School. This position provides academic advising and personalized guidance to a diverse undergraduate student population, helping students navigate degree requirements, overcome academic and personal challenges, and connect with campus resources. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with colleagues to support orientation programs, oversee the Dyson Global Program, contribute to retention and student success initiatives, and help deliver co-curricular programming that fosters engagement, belonging, and community. This highly interactive role is ideal for a student-centered professional committed to creating an exceptional and inclusive student experience. This is a full-time, three-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding, performance, and business needs. About The Dyson - Dyson School of Applied Economics & Management

The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a large and diverse school within the SC Johnson College of Business and is currently ranked number 3 in the Bloomberg BusinessWeek rankings. It includes a total of over 750 undergraduates, over 2000 minors and over 100 graduate students. With over 75 faculty, nationally and internationally known scholars in economics and business disciplines. The land-grant mission of the College, which encompasses research, education, and extension programs, allows for the creation and dissemination of knowledge that makes a difference for students, the citizens of New York, the nation, and people around the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate students on degree requirements, academic policies, and educational planning.
  • Support students facing academic, personal, and institutional challenges by connecting them with appropriate campus resources and developing strategies for success.
  • Advocate for student needs and foster student well-being, engagement, and academic achievement.
  • Manage and support the Dyson Global Program, including study abroad and exchange opportunities, course approvals, and student participation processes.
  • Coordinate and deliver student onboarding, orientation, and community-building programs, including New Student Orientation, Discover Dyson, Family Weekend, and other student engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on student success, retention, persistence, and graduation efforts through assessment and program development.
  • Support academic records and student services functions, including petition processes and academic review activities.
  • Participate in school and university committees and contribute to initiatives that enhance the undergraduate student experience within the Dyson School.
