We are seeking a dedicated Research Scientist with expertise in the preclinical evaluation of novel vaccine candidates using animal models. The successful candidate will be instrumental in advancing our vaccine development efforts by collaborating with fellow scientists and cross-functional teams to design and execute animal studies focused on assessing immunogenicity, efficacy, and mechanisms of action.
What You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
Collaborate with internal teams to design and conduct animal studies for evaluating vaccine candidates, utilizing a variety of laboratory animals.
Conduct animal procedures to assess the immunogenicity and efficacy of vaccines, including tissue harvesting and studying human pathogen infection and disease.
Perform manipulations and procedures on laboratory animals and handle microorganisms and clinical samples in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 environment.
Support laboratory operations by preparing media, stocking reagents, ordering supplies, and processing samples, while working effectively in a matrixed team environment.
Ensure compliance with cGMP/GLP and other regulatory requirements, where applicable.
Analyze data and present experimental results in meetings.
Document all work in electronic notebooks and write progress reports as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification
Must Have
Bachelor’s degree with 6 to 8 years of experience or MS with 4 to 6 years of relevant laboratory and/or vivarium experience required.
Demonstrated experience in conducting preclinical studies using laboratory animals, ability to work independently using knowledge and work experience.
Uses own scientific judgment to apply and adapt standard methods and techniques with increased independence by applying prior work experience
Proficiency in using personal computers – including word processing, spreadsheets, PRISM, PowerPoint, and other relevant scientific software.
Motivated, flexible, and willing to learn new skill sets.
Nice to Have
Technical experience in executing in vitro assays.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to influence project teams and adapt standard methods and techniques.
Creativity in developing novel processes and ideas.
