Job Duties

The Department of Environmental Quality's (DEQ) Central Office (CO) is seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the development and issuance of VPDES MS4 permits and provide technical and regulatory support to regional and central office water permit program staff as well as the regulated community. Develop and implement guidance, permit procedures, policies and regulations in order to ensure the issuance of consistent, legal, accurate and technically acceptable permits.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of municipal stormwater program requirements and stormwater principles and best management practices. Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal and state laws, regulations, policy, and guidance. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team to meet deadlines.

Additional Considerations

Combination of education and training or coursework in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field. Experience in development and issuance of municipal stormwater permits or other NPDES permits. Experience with VPDES MS4 regulations, Virginia Stormwater Management Program Regulation, MS4 permits, stormwater best management practices, and providing assistance to the regulated community and other stakeholders.
