About the Role:

  • Cruise is looking for a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager for Capacity Planning to lead a highly technical, executive level cloud economics cross-functional cost program within Cruise
  • In this role, you will partner with engineering and product teams critical to Cruise’s mission
  • The ideal candidate is someone that has 5 years experience or more in technical infrastructure cloud efficiency and capacity planning, can align multiple groups and teams towards unified goals and drive progress towards meeting our company’s cloud efficiency and cost optimization
  • This is a highly cross-functional role where you will be working with partners from across Cruise’s AI organization including Directors and VPs

What you’ll be doing:

Planning

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, work closely with external and internal stakeholders from product, engineering, FP&A (Budget) and infrastructure capacity planning
  • Partner with FP&A and engineering leads in forecasting demand, plan cost efficiency and optimization initiatives that drive executive decisions on capacity arrangement
  • Partner with leaders across product management, program management, and engineering functions to communicate efficiency & budget targets, document and monitor cloud capacity requirements, and turn these requirements into engineering work plans with clear goals/KPIs
  • Manage cloud infrastructure portfolio, including key technical specification, availability, provisioning and deployment milestones
  • Drive the formulation and review of department roadmaps and objectives on a quarterly and ongoing cadence

Execution

  • Work across teams to design and launch new processes to manage cloud cost, institute process improvements, and ensure the achievement of cloud cost objectives
  • Develop roadmaps and metrics to measure cost saving & efficiency improvements by department, including leadership status reporting on a frequent basis
  • Ensure smooth execution of cross dependent programs and continuously improve execution over time
  • Ensure consistent delivery of critical projects that meet the companies objectives, identifying and removing organizational barriers to execution
  • Promote quality communication across departments to effectively execute and report progress, risks, and wins to an executive audience
  • Lead and improve planning and execution processes at the intersection of multiple departments
  • Responsible for instrumenting monitoring to measure group efficiency and effectiveness
  • Establish confidence from partner teams to continuously minimize distractions or conflicts and push groups to maximize their output

Technical

  • Be the point of contact for high visibility multi functional work-streams by owning communication of team, initiative, and objective statuses to all partners, including senior management and executives
  • Build systems to coordinate the proactive identification, tracking, and resolution of risks across multiple engineering organizations
  • Drive a culture of using data insights to help drive cost saving decision-making
  • Define and maintain a work breakdown structure and balance agile project management methodologies with overarching company program schedules
  • Coordinate with product and engineering management to measure progress towards our goals to ensure schedules are met and wins are celebrated
  • Use technical judgment in working with large, cross engineering teams to track dependencies and risks effectively
  • Ability to apply technical software or hardware development knowledge to collaborate closely with engineers and/or scientists t
