Mechanical CAD Designer Intern 

 

As a Mechanical CAD Designer Intern, you will work with as part of a project team to support

the creation of design deliverables for capital projects at our manufacturing facilities. This role

will support multiple sites and multiple projects concurrently.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

 

• Work directly with a Mechanical CAD Designer as a mentor

• Preparing project Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Engineering Flow Diagrams (EFDs)

• Working with the mechanical engineer to develop project drawings

  for equipment, piping layouts, seed spouting runs, and dust collection layouts

• Creation of equipment blocks in 3D space and using them to create a 3D model of the project

  space

• Working with 3D scans to overlay existing conditions on top of the project 3D model

• Reviewing equipment vendor drawings and updating the 3D model accordingly

• Supporting the construction of the project

• Supporting project checkout and startup at manufacturing site

• Supporting the effort to As-Built project drawings after construction and commissioning have

  been complete

Required Qualifications:

 

• First year student working towards a 2-year degree or CAD certificate OR a Sophomore or Junior pursing a Bachelors degree in CAD

• Strong desire and ability to create and work in 3D space
• General mechanical aptitude
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Good problem solving skills
• High degree of personal initiative
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment and a diverse culture
• No travel limitations
