Under the supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, the Tray Assembly Worker is responsible for assembling and distributing patient meals in accordance with established diet orders and safety standards. Duties include setting up and maintaining tray assembly stations, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation, assisting patients with menu selections, and delivering meals and snacks throughout the hospital. The role also supports dishroom, pot room, and general housekeeping functions to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Performs other related duties as assigned to support Food and Nutrition Services operations.
Effective 06/22/2025, employees represented by the AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25.
Job Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in food service, including tray assembly and delivery.

Ability to read and write, and to follow oral and written instructions in English sufficient to identify food items and match them with menu selections.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced tray assembly environment.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations without the use of a calculator.

Basic knowledge and understanding of all diets.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, medical staff, patients, supervisors, and management.

Ability to conform to departmental dress code standards.

Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods, including stretching, bending, pushing, walking, lifting, and reaching repetitively.

Ability to lift and push heavy carts safely.

Willingness to attend departmental training classes as required.
