Anatomic Pathology Coordinator - Full time

Overview: This position performs a wide range of complex secretarial duties using medical terminology and hospital procedures to support efficient laboratory operations. The coordinator manages daily interactions with Meritus Providers, external institutions, pathologists, legal representatives, and occasionally patients to ensure proper handling of samples such as blocks and slides for second opinions, consults, primary reviews, research, and additional testing.
The role includes medical transcription duties, accurately transcribing pathology dictations into patient reports. Additional tasks include typing correspondence, reports, and studies, and performing various assignments to maintain laboratory efficiency.

Prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines

Serve as primary support for the Anatomic Pathology Department

Organize incoming mail, faxes, and packages; monitor and order supplies

Perform data entry, transcription, specimen verification, and report distribution

Prepare materials for cancer conferences and tumor boards

Prepare and send out various specimens and related materials

Review and process legal cases according to procedures

Assist with interpreting physician orders for appropriate lab tests
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree as an Administrative Medical Assistant or equivalent education and experience preferred

Experience: Minimum of three years clerical experience required. Medical office or hospital experience preferred

Skills: Strong transcription skills and basic Microsoft Office proficiency required. Knowledge of histology and pathology terminology preferred
