Model Shop Technician

Basic Qualifications

Education: High school plus 1 year experience is required.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Duties and Tasks:

 

• Basic material knowledge
• May operate light-duty bench or floor machine tools and equipment
• Works from basic drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, whichmay include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions
• Sets up machines and makes adjustments, and performs maintenance on machines
• Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances
•  Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other controlprocedures
•  Interfaces with employees and managers within the department
• Works under supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read and follow instructions including Engineering and CAD drawings
•  Basic interpersonal skills to cooperate and work effectively with others
•  Basic communication skills, both verbal and written
•  Basic computer skills
•  Basic organizational skills
•  Able to use mechanical hand and simple power tools

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $22.10 - USD $23.71 /Hr.
