As a Principal Engineer, you'll be responsible for supervising / leading the mechanical engineering activities from developing initial customer requirements and developing them into design specifications, verifying the design and then converting them into manufacturing and operating specifications.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising and leading mechanical engineering activities from developing initial customer requirements and developing them into design specifications, verifying the design and then converting them into manufacturing and operating specifications. Guide and mentor other engineers and designers.
- Particular attention will be made to Risk Assessment and Performance verification of the system.
- The approval and quality of the Design Process Management (DPM) plans and continued review of Engineering Procedures for efficiency improvements and the mentoring of others in those procedures.
- Considering broad implications for safety cases related to Design Process Management (DPM) plans and ensuring functional design specifications satisfy the HSE requirements for offshore developments.
- Attending design reviews and influencing technical discussions to mitigate all risks to people, plant and the environment as a consequence of the engineering activities ensuring lessons learned are well communicated and reflected in the design activities.
- Considering the broad implications of tasks and activities associated with a project to ensure all engineering deliverables are captured in plans to satisfy the contractual and third-party requirements. Interpret the customer and regulatory requirements, assessing the factors that will affect the outcome of the engineering activities and lead discussions and design reviews defining the engineering deliverables and process of planning.
- Assessing and implementing relevant lessons-learned into the works through the improvement loop, ‘lessons-learned meetings’ and to all Technical Staff Worldwide as appropriate. Take any opportunities to improve the outcome either through risk reduction, cost reduction and or performance improvement.. Develop Improvements to Engineering Activities.
- Conducting repair dispositions and support execution related to refurbishment and upgrades scopes and support ITO during tender phase.
- Being the primary point of contact for offshore operations and customer interface during field issues.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- MSc/BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 15+ years on design engineering development experience.
- Conscientious, flexible, versatile, and determined. Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance.
- Sufficient understanding of behavioral personnel issues.
- Effective team working and leadership. Flexible approaches to changing work demands
- Extensive and detailed standard of technical, safety and professional knowledge as defined by competences.
- Highly knowledgeable of current relevant industry standards and codes for area of work.
- Experience of current Design / Modelling / Financial / project Management / Analytical software and techniques.
- Experience with Floating Production Systems, Subsea Production Systems, Wellheads.
