Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) has locations in Othello and the Central District. Services at the clinics include pediatric medical care, behavioral health, dental services, nutrition, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more. Since 1970, OBCC has worked to uphold the vision of community organizer Odessa Brown: to bring quality healthcare with dignity to children from birth to young adulthood in the Central District and south Seattle.
Seattle Children's Hospital- Odessa Brown Children's Clinic (OBCC) is seeking a full-time skilled an enthusiastic Lead Registered Dietitian to oversee our Odessa Brown WIC clinics as the WIC Coordinator.
This position will work from both of our two clinic locations in Central and South Seattle locations.
This is a lead position that is responsible for overseeing the WIC Program and for providing the full scope of nutritional services and support to patients and clients, including managing individual and group nutrition assessments, counseling, education, and evaluations; in addition to planning, coordinating, and evaluating nutrition programs for the sites and community. This position will lead the WIC staff, including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems and will be involved with the hiring and training of new WIC staff. A small part of this position is to also provide Nutritional support for the Carolyn Downs/Seattle Roots' Maternal Support Services (MSS) program and clients. The position will work with and support other OBCC employees and clients to help fulfill the organization's mission.
This position requires skills in diplomacy, supervision, delegation, teaching, problem solving and administrative programs as well as community awareness of resources available.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or Clinical Dietetics At least one (1) year's experience in a hospital, clinic, or home based clinical nutrition setting.
Required Credentials
Registration through Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) Certification with State of Washington within 4 months of hire Candidates selected will also be required to successfully complete the department credentialing process prior to hire and maintain credentialing for the duration of employment Documentation of current BLS/CPR certification with AED training required at time of offer Ability to obtain Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered or Phlebotomist license within 30 days of hire in order to perform hemoglobin/hematocrit testing on WIC participants.
Preferred
Master's Degree in Nutrition, Clinical Dietetics, or Public Health with nutrition emphasis AND two (2) years of related experience. Prior pediatric and/or WIC work experience Experience participating in departmental staff training/committees on nutrition-related topics/issues Familiarity with WIC Electronic Charting System (Cascades) Demonstrated experience advancing equity and social justice principles and practices that address the place, race, policy, and systemic inequities on communities and populations. Experience mentoring and/or training for less experience nutrition and/or clinical staff Demonstrated advanced leadership, group process, and group facilitation skills Previous experience coordinating breastfeeding promotion and support activities Demonstrated experience with program monitors and audits Experience developing and modifying electronic charting and documentation systems for nutrition services Demonstrated advanced Excel, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams skills Established knowledge of local health and social service resources available in the community and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners.
Compensation Range
$34.41 - $51.62 per hourSalary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
