Summary of Job:

The Director, Market Research, will support Oncology, CNS, Rare Disease, and other business franchises in Kyowa Kirin by providing business insights to help the steering of strategic directions and brand positioning. This role will report to the Head of Business Insights and Analytics and this position will be accountable for building primary, and secondary market research, and competitive intelligence capability to provide a complete and accurate assessment of business issues faced by stakeholders. Serve as a strategic partner to brand team leadership through active involvement in strategy development, brand performance, and business planning to drive superior decision-making. This individual will partner and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Business Development, Commercial Analytics, forecasting, and HEOR to provide market research insights that are aligned with strategic imperatives

Essential Functions:

  • Lead primary and secondary market research, and competitive intelligence, and is proficient at stakeholder management to deliver compelling strategic and tactical insight.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and focus on best-in-class methodologies for developing marketing tools, especially around treatment process tools, strategic segmentation, and positioning research.
  • Ability to synthesize findings from primary, and secondary market research and competitive intelligence to provide meaningful insights and actionable recommendations in a dynamic landscape across the franchise.
  • Combine deep knowledge of research findings along with strong influencing skills to build partner relationships with franchise leadership to guide research design, insights, and implications, as well as brand business decisions in support of strategic imperatives.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to uncover actionable insights and business opportunities.
  • Providing input into the design of forecast models and assessment of associated risks and opportunities, including sensitivity and/or alternate scenarios to inform the annual financial forecasting and brand planning processes.
  • Support the strategic/brand planning process by evaluating market conditions to identify growth opportunities and assisting in the development of tactical and strategic plans to grow.
  • Driving high-impact market research initiatives within budget parameters that drive decisions and business performance.
  • Collaborating with peer teams such as Forecasting, Commercial Analytics, Market Access, Sales Operations, HEOR, Clinical, Compliance, and Legal.
  • Continually update knowledge of industry data sources & and techniques to bring innovative approaches to insight creation to provide succinct market, brand, and project overviews for brand leadership
  • Ensure all marketing research activities are conducted in accordance with financial and ethical compliance guidelines.

Job Requirements:

Education

A bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced business or scientific degree is highly preferred.

 Experience

10+ years’ experience in Market Research within the pharma healthcare, or biotech industry. Exceptional communication skills, ability to frame issues in strategic terms, and knowledge of primary and secondary research approaches. Proven team player, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work within tight deadlines. Strong collaboration skills.

Technical Skills

Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Fluency in IQVIA SMART or Symphony PHAST, strong familiarity with Data Monitor, Decision Resources.

Non-Technical Skills

Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, make decisions, and change course of action quickly. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A strong work ethic is required.
