As the Quality Control Tech, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for ensuring company, production, and government standards are being met. Each Quality Control Lead is responsible for a particular department in the process and is responsible for the tracking of the product through their department. Quality Control Techs monitor department operations, inspect products, and report findings with the department supervisors and Quality Control Supervisor.
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
- Conduct standardized tests to assess product characteristics and ensure regulatory and company requirements are met.
- Document data obtained during quality assurance activities, consistent with HACCP standards and company policies and procedures.
- Audit production facility and reviews employee behavior for proper sanitation.
- Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality control checks to Production/QA Management.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company, government, and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Maintain hand-dip/foot-dip stations.
- Take pictures with a digital camera of product.
- Distribute cleaning agents/utensils for department clean ups.
- Inspect plant sanitation and cleanliness and monitor sanitation process.
- Perform regular pest control and document findings.
- Other duties are to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

- Quality Control Standards: In-depth knowledge of quality control standards and procedures, such as ISO 9001 or HACCP.
- Inspection Techniques: Proficiency in conducting various inspections, including visual, dimensional, and functional inspections.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze quality data to identify trends, measure performance, and identify areas for improvement.
- Root Cause Analysis: Skill in identifying the root causes of quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot quality problems and develop solutions.
- Statistical Analysis: Understanding of basic statistical methods for quality control, such as control charts and sampling techniques.
- Documentation: Accurate and thorough documentation of quality control activities and findings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant food safety regulations and standards.

- Leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team of quality control inspectors.
- Communication: Effective communication with plant personnel, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to work collaboratively with others to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Decision-Making: Making sound and timely decisions regarding quality matters.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing quality standards and production requirements.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
- 1-3 months experience in a food production facility or related experience/training.
- Previous experience in Seafood or Manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Work Environment and Schedule
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.
