PURPOSE
The position is responsible for assisting the head coach with recruiting, coaching and training student-athletes in the sport of softball to prepare them for success in competition at the NCAA Division I level and to ensure their satisfactory academic progress through graduation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
55% - COACHING:
At the direction of the Head Coach, provide technical and tactical instruction, demonstration and teaching the sport's dynamics to student-athletes to ensure the full potential of individuals and the team as a whole.
Communicate and motivate effectively with student-athletes to ensure that team members are improving, developing, and progressing as athletes during their collegiate careers.
Utilize evaluation tools to monitor training progress and analyze performances.
Assists in implementing practice plans and coaching team during scheduled competitions/events.
Position program to achieve competitive goals as established in conjunction with athletics administration.
Maintain effective, proactive, and responsive communication throughout the athletics program, while emphasizing relationships with the head coach, sport administrators, and support services.
Be a professional representative of the University and a role model for student-athletes, the Department, and the community.
Operate within the rules, regulations, and policies of the University and the Athletics Department.
20% - RECRUITING:
Identify, evaluate and recruit athletically and academically qualified student-athletes who can compete successfully on a level consistent with program expectations and who can be successful in an academic environment and graduate from the University.
