We're seeking a highly skilled forward deployable field test engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building, tinkering, and flying various types of fixed-wing and rotary-wing drones, in-depth knowledge and experience operating within the Department of Defense and U.S. military, time spent conducting research and development or testing of early stage prototypes.

We're seeking a highly skilled forward deployable field test engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building, tinkering, and flying various types of fixed-wing and rotary-wing drones, in-depth knowledge and experience operating within the Department of Defense and U.S. military, time spent conducting research and development or testing of early stage prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of tests and demonstrations, including planning, execution and reporting.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret data and drive product improvements.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex systems including control software, RF links, power delivery systems, and propulsion.
- Spearheading forward testing efforts of new military prototypes in the aerospace and radiofrequency (RF) domains
- Interfacing with U.S. military customers on a regular basis to demonstrate new technology
- Conducting on-the-spot problem-solving during live demonstrations or test events
- Experience building, flying, and tinkering with drones
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in flight testing, with a strong emphasis on autonomous and remotely piloted systems
- Hands-on experience building, flying, testing and tinkering with drones
- Experience with all phases of tests and demonstrations, including planning, execution and reporting
- Must be willing travel >25% of the time both nationally and internationally; valid US or ITAR-approved country passport is a necessity
- Ex-military experience strongly preferred
- Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate
ITAR Restrictions
- To Conform to US Government Regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. Citizen or National, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Note: Those currently on OPTs and/or H1Bs do not currently qualify for ITAR. Learn more about the ITAR here.
Bonus Points
- Current FAA Part 107 license
- Current Ham Radio license
- Proven track record of on the spot troubleshooting
- Basic software engineering skills required to troubleshoot hardware systems
