Who We Are
Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are
You have a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, or the equivalent. You have five or more years’ experience in mine planning in a large open cut mining environment or complex poly-metallic value chain. You enjoy working in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure mine plans are integrated across the business. You have proficiency with computer programs and software such as AutoCad, MineSight, and Excel. You are an effective communicator, leader, and supervisor.
As the Senior Mine Planning Engineer, you would report to the Chief Mine Engineer. This is a safety sensitive position.
What You Do
- Oversee ore control services for the mine operations department.
- Prepare daily mine plan compliance report to management.
- Perform and update phase designs to achieve both medium- and long-term goals.
- Produce periodic reconciliation calculations comparing the block model to the grade and tonnage derived from the blast holes.
- Ensure pit walls, dumps comply with design and regulation permits ensuring safe and profitable operations.
- Verify the tons and grade extracted from the mine according to the royalty holders.
- Examine daily drill pattern designs and provide feedback to efficiently achieve monthly mine plan goals.
- Solve problems and create new initiatives that will improve the mining process.
- Manage database information systems for haulage design, ore dilution, blast hole and exploration drilling projects.
- Distinguish opportunities in mining sequence and design to aid in recovery of gold and silver.
- Create reports describing processes and results for handling, accounting, estimating, and reconciling mined material.
- Manage and oversee Database reporting for mine production for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly periods.
- Develop mine plans and waste dump plans at the appropriate level of detail to optimize long-term objectives and meet short term commitments.
- Effectively communicate the mine plans to allow management to make the best possible decisions.
- Communicate with management on progress of planning and design as well as special projects.
- Manage and oversee reporting on mine performance.
- Supervise Junior Mine Engineers and Surveyors.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering (or equivalent)
- 5+ Years Mine planning experience in large open cut mining environments or complex poly-metallic value chains.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Able to work in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure mine plans are integrated across ore body knowledge
