Your Impact

  • Lead and Manage Fire and Life Safety and Ventilation Tasks on Road and Rail transit projects
  • Manage Analysis Teams, deliverables, client expectations and communicate directly with clients.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to successfully integrate ventilation and fire and life safety requirements into road and rail transit projects.
  • Analysis and  Design of fire-life safety and smoke ventilation systems for road tunnels, transit facilities, and enclosed vehicular facilities
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of fire spread and smoke propagation in road/rail transit facilities, tunnels, and enclosed vehicular facilities
  • Ventilation analysis and assessment of transit networks using CFD and subway Environment Simulations (SES)
  • Station and egress modeling
  • Provide Construction Support Services
  • Lead the design for escalator and elevator systems for transit rail systems.
  • Interpret and apply NFPA130 and NFPA502

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant Tunnel Ventilation and Fire and Life Safety experience.
  • PE License
  • Experience with ventilation systems and fire analysis passenger rail systems using CFD and the 1D simulation package: Subway Environment Simulation (SES)
  • Engineering experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling for tunnels and ventilation systems and simulation using ANSYS Fluent, FDS.
  • Engineering experience in advanced computer-aided design (CAD) modeling for rail transit facilities and ventilation system in both two-dimensional (2D) space, and three-dimensional (3D) space, using, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bently MicroStation.
  • Experience In designing escalator and elevator systems for transit rail stations. 
  • Experience in coupling CFD results and egress modeling in FDS-EVAC or similar passenger evacuation analysis software.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of escalator and elevator systems and station HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems for transit rail stations.

Compensation 

Expected Salary (all locations): $185,000-220,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
