Job Purpose:
Lydia House provides support for opportunity youth aged 16 to 26. This role assists in creating and carrying out programs related to transitional support, independent living skills, and career pathway development. Central to these efforts are college, career, and community readiness initiatives, which play a vital role in helping Native Hawaiian youth move from adolescence to adulthood and achieve economic independence. Lydia House Shift Leaders will support the daily operations during a specific shift, ensuring youth participants satisfaction, handling issues, and enforcing policies, acting as the crucial link between employees and management for smooth workflow and service quality. The position works closely with their assigned manager to ensure alignment to the overall success of their program area.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Shift Leader at Lydia House oversees staff during shifts by delegating tasks, monitoring performance, addressing absences, and resolving basic employee concerns. The role ensures efficient daily operations through shift briefings, addresses issues promptly, upholds high service standards, and supports the development of team members with training and coaching. Key duties include enforcing Liliʻuokalani Trust policies and maintaining communication with leadership to support youth participants and program success. This position will report to either the Huliau Program Manager or the Engagement Center Manager. There will be one Shift Lead assigned to the Engagement Center and there will be two Shift Leads that report to the Huliau Program. The Huliau Program Shift Leads will have a 3 pm to 11 pm shift and a 11pm to 7 am shift.
Shift Leaders Overview:
• Support the mission and vision of the Engagement Center and the Huliau Program.
• Communicate effectively with department managers to ensure alignment with departmental goals and activities.
• Collaborate with leadership to advance organizational objectives.
• Partner with Lydia House’s leadership to facilitate the successful implementation of program initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and addressing the needs of opportunity youth.
• Partner with the manager to identify staffing needs, help prepare draft shift schedules, and support smooth, consistent team coverage.
• Serve as a support resource by helping gather and share workplace concerns, facilitating open communication, and supporting early, solution-focused conversations when issues arise.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with Lydia House’s standards.

• Contribute to the Trust's success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and remain calm under pressure.
