Role Summary

The Senior Manager will sit in the Coca-Cola Continuity & Innovation team whose mission is to grow and protect the brand by always seeking to deliver the perfect consumer experience. This individual will conduct fundamental or applied research to improve or generate new products, components, equipment etc., and conduct research projects according to established scientific methods and newly devised methods. The position includes global strategy while leading product development teams to deliver differentiated and consumer-centric product solutions to meet the OU annual business plans and progress the long-term brand plans. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for developing new products or reformulating existing products, understanding consumer voice and internal stakeholder expectations to effectively lead projects.

What You’ll Do For Us (Key Responsibilities)

  • Support the implementation of CCTM innovation strategies in partnership with Category team to deliver 2+ year pipeline for growth, productivity, and continuity plans for the category.
  • Collaborate with multiple TI&SC function subject matter experts and leaders, such as Process Development, TCR, Packaging, SRA, QSE, SC, FM, CPS, Procurement to identify and validate fit-for-purpose solutions based on project needs and scope.
  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership from concept to 1st production of new products and reformulations of existing products.
  • Leverage new technologies, processes, ingredients, products and/or equipment to deliver new solutions for TCCC.
  • Strengthen relationships with suppliers and external partners to gain access to new processes, ingredients, sweeteners, products and/or equipment that could bring a competitive advantage to our Company.
  • Conduct experiments to evaluate new ingredients, processes, equipment and technologies that would build knowledge to support future product development activities in GDI Department.
  • Create materials (e.g., memos, reports/updates, newsletters, web-based content) to provide information on department activities, progress of implementation projects, issues, concerns, or best practices.
  • Ensure Technical Risks are identified, controlled, aligned, and effectively communicated.
  • Partner with GDI R&D Tech Center leaders to leverage project management routines to deliver global/regional/local innovations.
  • Ensure Technical Gate Deliverables are met to deliver project commitments.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges.

What You’ll Need (Education & Requirements)

  • Education must in in the Sciences.
  • BS Degree with 5+ years relevant experience in process and technologies, preferably in beverage manufacturing.
  • MS Degree with 3+ year relevant experience in process and technologies, preferably in beverage manufacturing.
  • Proven technical competency and credibility.
  • Proven technical leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven end-to-end implementation capabilities.

Key Functional Skills

  • Product Development: Knowledge of the product development process with a preference for prior experience in both carbonated beverages and alcohol ready to drink manufacturing.  Must be flexible to adapt to sudden change in project scope. Demonstrated use of creativity in development skills with a strong attention to detail.  
  • Flavor Chemistry: Basic knowledge of the organic chemistry of essential oils and other flavor compounds that are relevant to the beverage industry and Company products.  
  • Beverage Manufacturing: Knowledge of and ability to apply carbonated and non-carbonated beverage processing techniques (e.g., proportioning, carbonating, syrup manufacturing, filling, hot fill, aseptic, retort, pasteurization).  
  • Ingredients: Knowledge of key ingredients used in production of concentrates and beverage bases for finished goods (e.g., alcohol, colors, sweeteners, acidulants, preservatives, juice, gums, emulsifiers, stabilizers).  Knowledge of the function and role of each ingredient with demonstrated experience in constructing formula building blocks using a concentrate model to achieve efficiencies in scale. Knowledge of interactions between key ingredients, impact to stability and shelf-life, and ways to mitigate.
