JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Veterinary Entomology Laboratory in the Entomology Department is hiring summer research support technicians.  Primary duties include assisting with research projects related to ticks and wildlife including rodent (mouse and squirrel) trapping and tick dragging, as well as environmental assessments, equine tick control studies, deer and tick control studies, and laboratory studies involving mice and voles.

The applicants must be comfortable working with rodents and other wildlife, ticks, horses, and deer. In addition, this position will require early mornings and long days during trapping rounds and may involve work in less than ideal conditions through thick vegetation, sun, rain, and uneven terrain. Other duties such as data entry, camera trap evaluation, cleaning, and restocking supplies are assigned as needed.

This is a great opportunity to get both field and laboratory experience related to veterinary parasitology/entomology.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
