Job Description Summary:

As a Principal Designer within the Global Design team, you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver stellar end-to-end experiences across platforms and form factors. The Workshop team is the advanced product design team within PayPal and will focus on conceptualizing, prototyping, and testing next-generation experiences. The team operates with a mid-term vision, balancing groundbreaking innovation and feasibility, desirability, and viability for commercialization and adoption. We are a think/make environment, driven to answer the why and how customers experience products and services. We use design and prototyping to guide early product development, bring greater clarity to engineering goals, and develop an experience-grounded point of view.

You will report to the Senior Director, Design Workshop and be a member of our diverse Global Design team where we use our design and research skills to inspire and influence across the company. We believe that different perspectives and backgrounds inside our team lead to innovation and inclusion in our product design. We advocate for meaningful and engaging experiences for our diverse global customers. We support each other, learn from challenges, and have fun along the way. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design leadership - drive best practices in process and methodology and deliver against business and customer needs  

  • Guide UX efforts across teams, including strategy, planning, working with cross-functional partners to remove blockers and presenting effectively to senior staff and stakeholders  

  • Leverage and extend the use of design system, style guides, patterns and assets in the creation of UX deliverables  

  • Contribute to the wider UX community, mentoring others, leveraging your strengths to help others grow  

  • Ensure that all the organization’s output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand and strategic commitments. 

  • Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process. 

  • Make design decisions based on research and insights, as well as advocate for continuous learning and inclusive design best practices. 

  • Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders. 

Requirements 

  • 10 to 12+ years in UX role, bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the study of user experience, design, research or related fields or equivalent professional experience 

  • Thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops o
