The role:
We are seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to support the Tax team at KAYAK and OpenTable. Reporting to Senior Manager, Tax based in New York, this position will be primarily responsible for handling global indirect tax with a focus on North America. The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst will be an integral member of the tax team and will assist the Senior Manager in various indirect tax areas (sales and use tax, personal property tax, gross receipts tax, business & occupation tax, VAT, GST, business licenses, digital services tax). This individual is expected to work closely with various Finance teams and other departments in the organization.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and/or review various global indirect tax filings (primarily US sales and use tax, US business & occupation tax, Canada GST, Mexico VAT, US business licenses), including working closely with outside service providers
- Prepare monthly General Ledger Account Reconciliations and communicate required journal entries to the GL team for various indirect tax accounts
- Maintain a calendar of various required indirect tax filings
- Maintain product taxability, tax rates, and tax exemption certificates in ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination to ensure indirect taxes are accurately collected on customer invoices
- Identify and communicate key issues/areas of improvements throughout the compliance process, develop action plans, and diligently implement them to continue to improve global indirect tax processes at KAYAK / OpenTable
- Assist in addressing indirect tax aspects of strategic business initiatives through understanding the issues and coming up with appropriate solutions resulting from thoughtful research
- Run indirect tax audits and respond to notices received from taxing authorities
- Assist with non-indirect tax matters (income tax, transfer pricing), as needed

- Background in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field
- 4+ years of Public Accounting / in-house indirect tax experience
- Strong understanding of indirect tax framework and global indirect tax regulations
- Scale and process-oriented with high attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- Working knowledge of indirect tax systems and experience optimizing processes using technology
- Ability to produce timely deliverables and handle multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work with all levels of employees and cross-functional groups, result driven with a high level of integrity
- Ability to communicate or present issues and their solutions in a clear and effective manner
