Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.

This Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as the lead administrator and strategic innovator for campus technology and is responsible for overseeing and driving all technology-related operations and transformations at Centre College. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the CIO ensures that technology initiatives align with the institution’s strategic plan and long-term goals. The CIO leads the campus in defining and executing a vision for digital transformation by identifying and implementing cutting-edge technologies that support the college’s operations, collaborates with academic leaders to integrate technology into the learning environment, and ensures faculty and students have access to resources that enhance teaching and engagement. The CIO is responsible for managing continuous innovation and ensuring the College remains agile in adopting emerging technologies by anticipating technological trends, developing strategies for future challenges, and positioning the College as a leader in using digital tools in higher education.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

§  Ensure the coordination, security, efficiency, and effectiveness of the College’s technology resources, including the management of network infrastructure, the maintenance of equipment, developing procedures for acquisition and installation of equipment, and the oversite of institutional licensing compliance.

§  Remain continuously conversant with the latest developments in technology such as cloud computing, data analytics, AI and cybersecurity, and support and facilitate campus progress in embracing technology.

§  Lead campus-wide change management initiative to support the adoption of new technologies, such as an ERP, and ensuring that faculty, staff and students are adequately trained and support the adoption process.

§  Advise the President, CFO and other senior leaders on technology and data security matters affecting academic and administrative operations.

§  Provide leadership to the staff of Information Technology Services, including assigning and monitoring tasks and projects, developing professional development plans, and completing regular performance appraisals.

§  Manage the day-to-day operation of the technology environment and the support services required to maintain its functionality, which includes evaluating, in consultation with appropriate College officials, the need for new/replacement technology equipment.

§  Serve as a member of the College’s Expanded Senior Staff.

§  Envision ITS as integral to the culture of the campus rather than understanding technology as infrastructure.

§  Coordinate effective open communication across campus and among offices regarding issues of technology.

§  Provide leadership in developing and managing the administrative computing budget and the capital technology budget with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility.

§  Demonstrate commitment to exploring both internal and external funding sources for technology advancement on campus.

§  Design and manage a comprehensive cybersecurity / data security program to protect the institution’s digital assets.

§  Ensure compliance with data privacy laws such as GDPR, FERPA and HIPPA.

§  Seek corporate and academic partnerships and collaborations that benefit the College.
