About the role

Job Description:

This position functions as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). A Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. A Health Unit Coordinator, under the direction of nursing leadership, facilitates unit organization and patient care by assisting in the coordination of patient, nursing, physician and other health care provider office and clerical activities.

*WE ARE IN NEED OF A FULL-TIME NIGHT SHIFT PCT*

Unit Description:

On the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit we treat patients with Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, and Aplastic Anemia. We administer Chemotherapy, blood products including PRBC’s, Platelets, and FFP.  We also do CAR-T and Cellular therapy.  Our patients are immunocompromised, and we treat infections with multiple antibiotics.  Our patients have central lines to accommodate the many infusions they are receiving. We are considered an intermediate care unit with patient ratios on day 3:1 and 4:1 on nights due to the complexity of our patients. It is a great unit to learn on as a new grad and develop your nursing and critical thinking skills. Staff are engaged in mentoring new employees and work well together as a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current CNA Certification.
- and -
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

If working in Utah

-OR-

Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS

-OR-

Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS

For those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never had a C.N.A. in Utah.  If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start date

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.
Current enrollment in nursing school.
Basic computer skills.
Experience as a Secretary in a hospital.
Experience using electronic medical records.
Experience with word processing software.
Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient
