About the Job:

As an Oncology Data Specialist you are is responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of all patients diagnosed with or treated for cancer and various benign diseases to support the Cancer Program, the NAPBC Program, and the NAPRC Program through the maintenance of an accurate, complete, and accredited Cancer Registry.

What You’ll Do:

• Works in accordance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer standards in all aspects
• Abstracts core information from patient medical records within six months of the date of diagnosis
• Monitors the AJCC staging compliance on completed abstracts and requests the managing physician assign the necessary documentation
• Transmit all completed abstracts and rapid reports monthly to the State Cancer registry in accordance with state guidelines
• Serves as the Quality Control of the Cancer Registry Coordinator on the Cancer Committee on an alternate basis
• Maintains follow up rates at or above 80% for analytic cases from Cancer Registry reference date and 90% or above for all analytic cases diagnosed within the last five years
• Demonstrates editing proficiency with CP3R, RQRS and NCDB data submissions

Who You Are:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
• Oncology Data Specialist (ODS), Preferred
  • Or ability obtain within two years of hire, Required
• One (1) to two (2) years of hospital-based cancer registry, medical records or related experienced, Preferred.
• METRIQ, MOSAIQ, ARIA, EPIC and MS Office experience, Preferred.
