As the Data Architect (Information Systems Specialist 6) in Salem, Oregon, you will provide leadership in designing, integrating, and modernizing ODFW’s data environments. The position ensures that data systems — including scientific datasets, geospatial information, licensing data, habitat and species information, and enterprise operations data — are well‑architected, dependable, secure, and aligned to agency policies and statewide standards. The role is responsible for:
Architecting cross‑program data flows
Designing data structures and interfaces
Guiding modernization of legacy systems
Supporting data governance processes
Addressing complex interoperability challenges across diverse tools, databases, and platforms used throughout ODFW.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet one of the following options:
Option 1: Five (5) years of information systems experience designing, building, and managing data architectures, databases, and integration solutions for complex scientific, geospatial, or enterprise operational systems.
Option 2: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience designing, building, and managing data architectures, databases, and integration solutions for complex scientific, geospatial, or enterprise operational systems.
