Program Overview
The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.

Role Overview
Comcast’s Global Product Organization (GPO) works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience. From creating products like Air UI powered by Ent OS to streaming services like XUMO TV, we work every day to make a positive impact through innovation in the pursuit of building amazing products that are enjoyable, easy to use and accessible across all platforms. The team also develops and supports our evolving network architecture, including next-generation consumer systems and technologies, infrastructure and engineering, network integration and management tools, and technical standards.

As a Co-op with the Linear Video team, an organization within the Video IP Engineering and Research (VIPER) organization, you will work with a talented agile team of software engineers who design, develop, document, and deploy applications
responsible for configuring the IP streaming video platform.

You will be a member of an agile software development team. You will be given specific prioritized software development tasks to complete. You will pair with senior engineers who will train you on development processes/methodologies and technology. You will have opportunities to work with experts in the video engineering field. You will also work with operation and test teams to help deploy and troubleshoot field issues associated with our products. There are many
interesting challenges with building large scale systems. You will be part of a team solving scaling issues both within an application and within the network. You may be asked to solve application performance issues from database reads to web services or just optimizing algorithms. You will have the opportunity to explore human factors engineering by contributing to the design and functionality of the application user interface.

Our team is focused on automating channel deployments. We are creating new products and designing innovative ways to manage large complex video networks both within Comcast and Comcast syndicated business. As a member of this team, you will have a direct impact on achieving these goals and contribute to lowering operation costs leading to business growth opportunities.


Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Uses formal processes and tools to develop software applications
  • Work with agile team to develop, deploy and support application releases
  • Analyze, review, troubleshoot and document technical issues problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • GitHub, Linux, completed coursework using C/C++, Java, Python
  • Experience / familiarity with Scala a plus
  • Preferred Majors: Compsci, Comp Eng, Engineering
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
