About the role

 

The Engineering Data Management Administrator (EDMA) enters and maintains engineering data and documents, and provides administrative support for engineering department tasks. The EDMA also effectively communicates and collaborates with a wide variety of engineering and other departmental personnel.

Responsibilities

Engineering Data Management Administrator 1:

  • Examines drawings, engineering notices, specifications and other engineering related documents for accuracy of filename and current revision level.
  • Confers with document originators or group leaders to resolve discrepancies, and compiles required changes to documents.
  • Maintains engineering related files.
  • Operates reproduction equipment to complete requests for reproduction of documents.
  • Prepares reports, memorandums and books from technical data.
  • Data entry from multiple sources into computerized system records.

Engineering Data Management Administrator 2:

  • All duties of EDMA1, plus:
  • Creates charts of common data and graphs of statistical data.
  • Posts changes to computerized or manual control records and maintains engineering related files.
  • Uses internet to research worldwide standards.
  • Administers various engineering request forms and tracks disposition of these requests through completion.
  • Releases documents, and notifies affected departments.

Engineering Data Management Administrator 3:

  • All duties of EDMA2, plus:
  • Creates and maintains engineering procedures for various functions within the department with minimal guidance.
  • Analyzes current procedures and policies within engineering and other departments for improvement and harmonization.
  • Trains new engineering employees on proper use of ERP systems, location of engineering data, drawing procedures, and policies.
  • Develops complex workflows to support engineering and other company department operations.
  • Manages large-scale projects from beginning to end. Projects may involve multiple departments.
  • Plans projects including scope, schedule and provides cross-functional updates and reports.
  • Coordinates and manages the translation of documents and/or terminologies with all company divisions.
  • Engineering Data Management Administrator 4 (Senior):

All duties of EDMA 3, plus:

  • Creates and maintains various databases within engineering (Access, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Develops and executes complex data queries using SQL and Microsoft Business Intelligence programs.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates designated project activities to ensure goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
  • Manages large-scale projects from beginning to end. Projects may involve multiple company divisions to achieve harmonization.
  • Analyzes data for quality, and provides solutions.

Competencies

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering Data Management Administrator 1: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 6 months related work experience and/or training.
  • Engineering Data Management Administrator 2: One-year certificate from college or technical school and at least 1 year related work experience; or 2 years related work experience and/or training.
  • Engineering Data Management Administrator 3: Associate’s degree (A.S. / A.A.) in a related field and minimum of 2 years’ experience; or 4 years related experience and/or training.
  • Engineering Data Management Administrator 4 (Senior): Associate’s degree (A.S. / A.A.) in a related field and minimum of 4 years’ experience or 6 years related experience and/or training.

Engineering Data Management Administrator 1:

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods, including telephone communications, office systems, and record keeping.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to perform data entry.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft windows and windows file management.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems as it relates to truck Bill of Material (BOM) structure and inventory control, and as it relates to the drawing release process.

Engineering Data Management Administrator 2:

  • Demonstrated proficiency of EDMA1, plus:
  • Ability to use Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to breakdown process inefficiencies and determine next steps.
  • Ability to initiate technical discussions related to EDM business
