About the role

Hello 👋

We’re HappyScribe, a profitable, 100% bootstrapped AI company based in Barcelona.
We built one of the web’s most accurate multilingual transcription platforms, trusted by hundreds of thousands of users each month. That product funds our freedom to create what’s next — no investors, no burn rate, just focus.

Now we’re taking that same tech and expertise to a bigger frontier: turning conversations into memory. We’re building the layer where conversations become memory, ideas become action, and teams work with more clarity and speed.

You’d be joining a team of ~15 people (previous Typeform, Pitch, King, Skyscanner, etc.), close-knit and pragmatic. Some of us are scaling a mature, revenue-generating platform. Others are prototyping new products that push the limits of speech and agentic AI.

We move fast but think long-term. There’s room here to own, shape, and ship real products — not pitch decks.

About the role…

We're looking for a Product Engineer to build and evolve our core transcription and intelligence platform. You'll work with Matej (Tech lead, ex-Typeform), designers, and founders to ship features that serve both small teams and global enterprises.

It's a role for experienced builders who love the craft — engineers who think in systems, care about impact, and know when to move fast and when to dig deep.

What you will do…

  • Build and maintain the core HappyScribe app surface (multiplatform) — with hundreds of thousands of users every month. You'll own features end-to-end, from idea to production.

  • Ship to learn. Proactively measure impact, seek user feedback, and iterate or kill features based on what you discover.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and leadership to shape the product roadmap. You'll have a voice in what gets built and why.

  • Example projects:

    • Integrations with phone calling platforms to capture real-time conversations.

    • Search and storage systems for insights across hundreds of multilingual transcripts.

    • Desktop app for local recording and seamless access to conversation data.

What you will bring…

  • You're an experienced engineer who thrives in small, high-output teams. You know how to balance speed with quality and when to choose one over the other.

  • You're self-driven and business-aware. You care about solving real problems and moving the needle on metrics, not just shipping features. Give you context, and you'll find the leverage.

  • You communicate clearly with engineers and stakeholders. You can explain trade-offs, own decisions, and stay calm when things are ambiguous.

  • You have taste. You can distinguish between good and bad UX and can share examples to demonstrate it.

  • You're AI-native. You reach for agents by default and have built guardrails to be able to trust them more and more.

  • You're comfortable with our stack (Rails, Turbo/Hotwire) or have solid experience in MVC-based frameworks and can adapt quickly.

  • You're excited about our engineering principles, and most of the Rails doctrine aligns with your work style.

Bonus points if…

  • You’ve worked in B2B SaaS products, not just agencies or consumer apps.

  • You’ve interfaced directly with customers — validating ideas, collecting feedback, or supporting launches.
