Senior Application Engineer

A successful candidate will possess technical expertise and business experience in common back-office processes.  Back-office process experience can range from procure-to-pay, hire-to-retire, order-to-cash, record-to-report, prospect-to-quote, acquire-to-dispose, case-to-resolution, forecast-to-plan, or plan-to-produce.  Utilizing the combined knowledge of technology and business, the candidate works with business partners to plan, acquire/build, implement, and ultimately operate enterprise-wide solutions. The candidate will be proficient in DevOps and Agile practices.  

This is a position within the Corporate IT team. It requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Prior partnership building experience or working as part of a Fusion team with business customers is preferred. 

This position is 100% Remote in the 48 contiguous United States, with preference given to the Reston, VA area for a hybrid schedule. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate daily with internal customers on business solutions by validating key requirements and ensuring timely delivery.
• Develop and maintain financial/operational production processes that enable business decision making.
• Work with Solution Architects to develop integrations and data transformations.
• Perform ongoing process quality assessments, identify discrepancies, inconsistencies and resolve them.
• Continually improve the end-to-end business process solution, including end-user experience and support, process automation, data integrations, and application security.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 4+ years’ experience in the application engineering field.
• 3+ years of experience in client/server and web-based application environments.
• 3+ years of experience in the following workstreams:  from procure-to-pay, hire-to-retire, order-to-cash, record-to-report, prospect-to-quote, acquire-to-dispose, case-to-resolution, forecast-to-plan, or plan-to-produce.
• 3+ years of hands-on DevOps and Agile experience.
• 5+ years’ experience working with scripting or programming languages like SQL, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, C#, Java, etc.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, scientific, engineering, or data science field.
• Data integration experience with business systems such as Costpoint and Zycus.
• Ability to break-down complex data sets or multi-step processes into compartmental/logical units for analysis and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work with highly sensitive information and preserve the confidentiality of the information.
• Proficiency integrating application transactions using REST APIs in hybrid cloud environment.
• Experience with collaborating with business and technical staff; ability to seamlessly switch vocabulary based on the target audience.
