About the role

<p><strong></strong>IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated and talented <strong><em>Postdoctoral Fellow </em></strong>to join the Biomedical Genomics Lab led by Dr. Núria López-Bigas at IRB Barcelona (<a href="http://bbglab.irbbarcelona.org">bbglab.irbbarcelona.org</a>).</p><p>The group has been awarded a Cancer Grand Challenge Project (PROMINENT <a href="https://cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/prominent">https://cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/prominent</a>), to study how cells can host oncogenic mutations while maintaining a normal phenotype and the mechanism of promotion that prompt these cells to grow and develop a tumour. The project involves the collaboration of several groups using different models (human samples, mouse, organoids) and techniques (duplex sequencing, spatial proteomics…) in collaboration with hospital environment and patient advocates. </p><p>The position involves contributing to the project development contributing to PROMINENT Workpackages.</p><p>The ideal candidate will bring:</p><ul> <li>Proven experience in bioinformatics projects, specifically in cancer genomics.</li> <li>Proven experience in bulk RNA seq analyses.</li> <li>Excellent analytical skills, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset.</li> <li>A proactive and enthusiastic approach to research challenges.</li> </ul><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></p><ul> <li>Developing bioinformatics analysis of genomic data and transcriptomics data.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with the wet lab team in the production of RNA sequencing data.</li> <li>Preparing reports and manuscripts in collaboration with other researchers.</li> <li>Participating in interdisciplinary meetings.</li> <li>Assist in training team members and students.</li> <li>Engage in interdisciplinary projects to enhance research outcomes.</li> <li>Collaborate with other researchers within IRB Barcelona and external institutions.</li> <li>Contribute to a positive and collaborative research environment.</li> <li>Provide guidance and support to junior researchers, including PhD students and technicians.</li> <li>Foster a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation within the research group.</li> <li>Participate in group meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars.</li> <li>Contribute to the organization of scientific events and outreach activities.</li> <li>Engage in institutional activities and initiatives as required.</li> <li>Commitment to scientific integrity and ethical research practices</li> </ul><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p><strong>You have</strong></p><ul> <li>A PhD in Biosciences, Biomedicine or similar.</li> <li>Professional experience in a similar role or related field.</li> <li>Programming skills.</li> <li>Fluency in English (spoken and written).</li> <li>Experience in Cancer research</li> <li>Experience in genomics and/or transcriptomics analyses</li> </ul><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p><strong>You might also have</strong></p><ul> <li>Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively</li> <li>Commitment to scientific integrity and ethical research practices</li> </ul><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p><strong>What we offer: </strong></p><p><strong>To be a part a part of something meaningful</strong>: We are a biomedical research centre that tirelessly works to achieve a society free of diseases.
