Senior Deep Learning Compiler Engineer II
Cruise LLCAbout the role
We're Cruise, a self-driving service designed for the cities we love.
We’re building the world’s most advanced, self-driving vehicles to safely connect people to the places, things, and experiences they care about. We believe self-driving vehicles will help save lives, reshape cities, give back time in transit, and restore freedom of movement for many.
Cruisers have the opportunity to grow and develop while learning from leaders at the forefront of their fields. With a culture of internal mobility, there's an opportunity to thrive in a variety of disciplines. This is a place for dreamers and doers to succeed.
If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.
The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) software stack heavily relies on machine learning to perform critical tasks. Throughout the life-cycle of each machine learning model, we collaborate with skilled ML engineers to optimize the models for compute and power efficient inferencing on Cruise's on-car ML hardware accelerators. Such a close working relationship is key to rapidly deploying intelligent systems on the car.
Cruise is looking for a machine learning compiler engineer to build the compiler and software tool chain for deploying machine learning models on to a variety of ML hardware accelerators. In this position, you will develop and enhance Cruise’s internal ML compiler for high-performance, usability and retargetability.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers and researchers from different AV Engineering teams (e.g. Computer Vision, Perception, platform) to scope out system/software requirements at the application level while engaging with AV hardware teams to understand the target hardware platform and its constraints.
What you'll be doing
- Influence foundational compiler architecture decisions and strategy within Cruise
- Develop high level ML compiler optimizations like operator fusion, memory planning, layout optimization
- Build out the compiler backend for the different on-car ML accelerators
- Build performance tooling to evaluate, understand and improve ML performance on different accelerators
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams of AV engineers to influence our ML strategy and provide requirements for hardware vendors
What you must have:
- 2+ years of experience in the field of compiler design
- Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and software stack (e.g., MLIR, XLA, TVM, TensorRT, etc)
- Expertise in writing production quality C++ code
- Expertise in the software development life-cycle - coding, debugging, optimization, testing, integration
- MS, or higher degree, in CS/CE/EE, or equivalent, in industry experience
Bonus points!
- GPU programming (CUDA) and familiarity with ML SW stack (e.g., cuDNN, cuBLAS)
- SIMD programming (avx2, neon)
- Experience with ML accelerators and hardware architecture
- Familiarity with parallelization techniques for ML acceleration
The salary range for this position is $163,200 - 240,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
