Turner Industries is hiring for Facilities Maintenance to join our team in the Decatur, AL area.

General Job Description:

This position performs a large variety of duties throughout the entire facility, including but not limited to, groundskeeping, trash pickup, small painting jobs, preventive and on-demand work orders. Non- exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Functional Requirements:

• Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift
• Crane operations, mowing, weed eating, cleaning, sweeping, stacking, loading, grinding, digging, spreading and leveling dirt and gravel
• Lifts, carries and holds building materials, tools and supplies
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials and work areas
• Mixes, spreads or pours concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials
• Joins, wraps and seals sections of pipe
• Performs a variety of non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench, etc.
• Spends time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Qualification Standards:

• High school or equivalent
• Preferably one (1) to two (2) years of experience in specified skill
• Basic knowledge of hand tools
• Pre-employment qualification test if applicable
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Hazard Communication orientation/test
• Turner Industries Group, LLC Indoctrination
• OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87)
• Job site orientation
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
