Expand in your career at the Westin Cleveland Downtown leading our front of house food and beverage team at our new restaurant, Masa & Agave.
Welcome to Masa & Agave, a cantina-style restaurant and bar located at the historic Westin Cleveland Downtown. Worshipped as the Aztec gods of fertility and long life, venerated for their powers of sustenance, corn masa and agave have been central to Mexican culture and cuisine since ancient times. Using authentic techniques, we prepare corn masa-based starters and Mexico City-style tacos that are bursting with regional flavors! Along with the inspiring food selections we offer 240 different types of Tequila for our guests.
Lead a team oriented on serving our guests with exceptional hospitality, anticipating their needs and creating a memorable dining experience for both our hotel guests and those joining us from our community. Plan and manage the Restaurant and Room Service in order to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with corporate/franchise policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations while meeting/exceeding financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Direct day to day operations for all restaurant outlets, room service, culinary, stewarding, beverage, banquet, and purchasing operations.
- Respond to customer trends, needs, issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
- Demonstrate a passion for our restaurant's culinary menu including creative Mexican food and Tequilas.
- Market the Food and Beverage outlets; develop and manage the implementation of menus, package deals, promotions, displays, decorations and presentations within corporate guidelines to capture more in house guests and a larger share of the local market to meet/exceed sales and financial goals and objectives.
- Develop, implement and manage the department's business/marketing plan and budget; continually analyze, forecast, monitor and control the labor and food costs through various methods to meet/exceed management/budget objectives.
- Manage the maintenance/sanitation of the Food and Beverage areas and equipment in the hotel to protect the assets, comply with regulations and ensure quality service.
- Implement and manage all company programs to ensure compliance with the SOPs and LSOPs; to include safety and sanitary regulations, all federal, state, franchise, and local regulations to ensure optimal levels of quality service and hospitality are provided to the guest.
- Execute and promote safe workplace practices and our Safety program for the good of our employees and guests minimizing liabilities and related expenses.
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
- Be a present leader available in afternoons and evenings for our hotel and local guests supporting our team!
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven food and beverage leadership experience and 3+ years in a related leadership role.
- Restaurant opening and standalone restaurant management experience required.
- Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or complex problems and food and beverage management.
