Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Sr. Director of Operations, the Chief Engineer manages, supervises and coordinates the maintenance of the mechanical, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing and related equipment for the Arena, Horse Park and Amphitheater. The Chief Engineer also plans and oversees a variety of projects determined by Executive Management.
This role pays an annual salary of $60,000 to $80,000.

About the Venue
The Ford Idaho Center which is managed by the Oak View Group consists of a 12,000 capacity Arena, 11,000 capacity Amphitheater, and 40-acre Horse Park. The venue works with the nation’s leading promoters (Live Nation, PBR, FELD, AEG, Pepper Entertainment, etc.) to produce world class events like Kenny Chesney, Zach Bryan, Professional Bull Riders, Hozier, Monster Jam, and many more.
Responsibilities
- Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the maintenance of the facility including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as re-lamping, replacing ceiling tiles, filters and belts as required.
- Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner.
- Assist Operations and Event departments to expedite event conversions as needed.
- Participate in the development and administration of the maintenance budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
- Conduct a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to maintenance programs and policies, as appropriate; conduct financial and physical feasibility studies for maintenance and related operational activities.
- Direct and monitor the work of contractors, engineers, and architects on building projects while promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- Order supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies.
- Read and interpret performance charts and control panels to evaluate the efficiency of each system.
- Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
- Maintains walls (interior and exterior) of entire complex including all drywall repairs, sanding, and repainting.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Maintain inventory of paint and supplies.
- Maintain Hazardous Materials Communication Program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits as it applies to maintenance program.
- Maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent federal, state and local regulations.
- Perform gas and electric welding; rebuild pumps, fans and motor driven equipment used in the facility; and perform basic carpentry.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or G.E.D. and five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in building maintenance including at least two years of supervisory responsibility and experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC or related building systems. Some technical support school or advanced electrical or refrigeration courses is preferred.
- Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility. Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
- Experience in stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers is preferred
- Understand the methods, principles and practices required for the operation and maintenance of the mechanical, HVAC and electrical systems.
- Familiar with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated
