General Description and Classification Standards:
The City of Atlanta seeks a highly motivated Transit Policy Leader with excellent communication, organizational, and technical skills to support delivery and coordination of the More MARTA transit program. The Transit Policy Leader will coordinate between the Mayor’s Office, ATLDOT, and other City departments to advance planning, design, and construction of the $2.6B More MARTA transit expansion program and serve as the designated City counterpart to MARTA leadership on the More MARTA program.
The Transit Policy Leader must possess a unique blend of technical skills and leadership/management experience to support the City of Atlanta in advancing the More MARTA program. The Transit Policy Leader will report to the Mayor’s Office and will work alongside City department leaders/commissioners to ensure necessary support and resources are identified to support program delivery. The ideal candidate has a strong transit and transportation capital project delivery background and extensive experience working with key stakeholders, elected officials, and City leadership

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develops program analysis and project briefings for City department leaders and executive leadership
- Represents the City of Atlanta in coordination with MARTA and external partners, as well as in public settings and engagement opportunities
- Collaborates with external partners and develops strategies to pursue state and federal funding for transit projects
- Develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to share project information and solicit necessary feedback
- Leads coordination between City of Atlanta departments to support decision making and foster collaboration to resolve complex challenges and streamline project delivery
- Provides technical support, policy guidance, and recommendations to City leaders and elected officials to develop consensus and support decision making
- Represents the City of Atlanta in More MARTA program procurement-related decisions for all goods and services
- Develops and reviews legislation to support program delivery and advance City transit policy interests
- Ensures City and MARTA adherence to program legislation and decisions made through program governance structures.
