The Finance Master Data team ensures the accuracy, consistency, and governance of critical master data associated with external and internal financial reporting by creating a single, trusted source of truth globally. We manage master data creation, changes, lifecycle management, data integration, cleansing, and standardization processes to improve data quality, accessibility, and decision making across systems and teams globally.

 

What you'll do...

The Walmart Finance Master Data Director of Data Stewardship (Financial Reporting) will lead the team of Data Stewards who will be central to creation, maintenance and deletion (life cycle management) of key finance master data elements . The team is responsible for managing various governance councils, timely completion of master data requests, and ensure availability of newly created master data consistently across the financial reporting landscape including SAP, HFM, OneStream and FCP. This team will work closely controllership ensuring smooth month end close, exe adherence to all master data related policies/ SOX controls.

Responsibilities Include...

  • Will be leveraging agentic AI and automation to incorporate efficiency and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Understand and align data governance and standard definitions across markets
  • Data mapping and integration planning- Analyze legacy data and map it to the corresponding fields in the new systems/ processes. Develop strategy for integrating master data from multiple sources in to the new ERP or other defined processes
  • Data cleansing and enrichment- Identify and eliminate duplicates, incorrect or outdated data in the legacy systems. Standardize and enhance incomplete or inconsistent data to meet new requirements to comply with governance requirements
  • Data quality management- Establish metrics to monitor the quality of master data continuously ensuring it meets the governance requirements post implementation. Identify and utilize appropriate tools to automate data reconciliation, cleansing and monitoring throughout the master data lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder collaboration - Work closely various finance teams to develop and update governance policies as needed and communicate timely on any major changes to avoid surprises and system failures.
  • Establish data maintenance plan- Set up procedure for regular updates and audits to maintain the quality and consistency of master data after transition. Assign clear ownership for ongoing data management and governance to ensure continuous data accuracy and integrity
  • Testing and validation- Conduct end to end testing where required to ensure proper creation of requested master data before moving to production.
  • Navigate evolving regulatory landscape and Walmart’s core privacy tenants to lead in the representation of digital citizenship as we go across the markets where Walmart operates
