Objective: Provide support to The START Center Cutaneous Cancer Program to expedite patient care, enhance quality metrics, and optimize workflow to improve patient identification for services within The START Center.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Database Management; data input on patients under the cutaneous cancer model
- Maintain active list of patients according to tumor type for accurate counting
- Collaborate with associated physicians and staff for patient care and also monthly reports and case presentations
- Update patient information to include date of consults, treatment information and services within The START Cancer Center
- Ensure pathology specimens are appropriately directed
- Ensure high risk patient populations are flagged for screening review
- Identify patients to present or follow-up with treating physicians
- Ensure all medical records are available
- Aid in the development of patient education materials by collaborating with physicians, IT, and marketing.
- Obtain outside records for new referrals, patients undergoing active treatment, and those under oncologic surveillance.
- Scan records into EMR and update database accordingly
Qualifications
Skills and abilities
- Minimum of a H.S. or equivalent degree
- Proficient in medical terminology and marketing abilities
- Organize and use a tracking system for managing workload and providing follow-up to the physicians as well as information to the organization.
- Working knowledge of the EMR, Hospital portals, and other systems to access records and information.
- Ability to work with the entire Patient Care Team in order to exceed the expectations of the patient.
- Innovative in thought and approach to the workday in order to promote success of the Cutaneous Cancer program.
