The Role:

Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground as to what a security product can deliver.  Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced engineer to contribute to the development of our cloud applications and specifically our API’s which power the solution.  Our cloud applications provide our customers with visibility into the activity across their fleet of deployed endpoints and allow them to take action across the fleet.

Responsibilities:

• Technology Leadership: Guide the adoption and implementation of the architecture and framework used in Halcyon’s APIs. Stay ahead of the curve in new trends and innovations.

• Team Management and Strategy: Direct and manage the API development team. Formulate strategies for API development processes and establish best practices.

• Developer Experience: Enhance the experience for API developers within the team, ensuring a productive and collaborative environment.

• Collaboration with Product Teams: Work closely with product managers. Align API design with product vision and user needs, ensuring consistency across platforms.

• Interface with UI and Data Platform Teams: Coordinate with UI and data platform developers. Ensure that UI components and APIs are seamlessly integrated, focusing on API usability and user experience.

• Team Building and Expansion: Actively participate in the recruitment and growth of the API development team. Identify and attract top talent and develop internal talent to ensure a diverse and skilled team composition to meet the evolving demands of API development projects at Halcyon.

• Mentoring and Code Quality: Mentor junior developers, oversee code reviews, and maintain high standards for code quality and documentation.

• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Continuously explore new techniques and tools to improve API development processes. Encourage innovation within the team.

• System Reliability Experience: Design for sustainable reliability and monitor APIs for issues or degradation and respond appropriately and responsibly

Skills and Qualifications:

• Extensive experience building enterprise quality APIs using a modern programming language and web server framework

• Experience leading and growing a team

• Experience interfacing with a variety of databases and data stores

• Experience deploying infrastructure and applications in AWS

• Ability to collaborate with other engineering teams on integration and architectural design

• Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes with Helm (or similar tooling)

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience building APIs in Scala/Kotlin/Java or Rust

• Experience with Terraform, GitLab, and/or ArgoCD

• Experience with OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, Postgres, DynamoDB, and/or Kafka
