Senior Manager, Military Outreach-Remote

Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key influencers to include: military education center staff, veteran center staff, and current students and prospective students within the assigned area of responsibility (AOR) which will at a minimum include Fort Cavazos, Goodfellow AFB, and Dyess AFB. Provides on-site liaison between APUS and the field location to all members of the local community as appropriate.  Presents briefings to individuals and groups (when permissible), counsels & assists current & prospective students, represents APUS at local events and ceremonies and provides information about APUS programs to key military and civilian personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible to serve as the “face of APUS” in the Central TX region, located within commutable distance of Killeen, TX. AOR includes but is not limited to military installations in the aforementioned sentence and other locations as directed by Regional Director.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve education center personnel, veteran’s centers, and other key personnel
  • Ensures marketing materials displayed in all assigned areas are kept replenished and current
  • Provides face-to-face, phone, text, email, and video (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.) assistance to current and prospective students, education center staff, and key personnel as opportunities permit or as directed
  • Attends ceremonies and events on behalf of APUS. May present scholarships or other forms of recognition on behalf of the University
  • Assists the Director in the development and execution of strategies, plans, and objectives to support the annual strategy. Regularly informs the Director of potential marketing opportunities in assigned area
  • Prepares reports and presents information to individuals and groups of varying sizes
  • Develops innovative ways to communicate APUS programs to target audiences
  • Provides input to advertising and marketing activities specific to AOR
  • Periodically assists other senior education managers with events that are located outside of assigned AOR
  • Maintains student and prospect interaction in Salesforce
  • Conduct initial contact to new students and advisement to persisting students
  • Provides monthly environmental scan of AOR to include activity of key competitors
  • Provides monthly reporting on student and prospect interaction
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    • In depth understanding of student services functions, to include, advising, enrollment management, appeals process, career services, etc.
    • In depth understanding of military voluntary education, and veteran programs
    • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing

    • External contacts may include senior government personnel (military and civilian), military leaders, base education officials, and current and prospective students
    • Internal contacts may include fellow APUS employees up to Vice President level, APUS partners, and APUS students

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Military service or military affiliated experience preferred 
  • Working knowledge of military voluntary education preferred
  • Previous experience interacting and communicating with others
  • Ability to use a computer required; experience with Microsoft Office products preferred 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, home office, military installations, and sponsored events within AOR
  • Frequent travel required within assigned geographic area of responsibility; occasional travel required to Charles Town, West Virginia
