Job Summary
The VP of Finance will be both a strategic and operational leader, overseeing accounting operations, treasury, tax, and compliance functions while deeply engaging with financial forecasting and planning. This high-impact role requires a professional who can think at the CFO level, execute at the granular level, and effectively collaborate across departments.
This is not a lone-wolf role; our VP must be a strong communicator, inclusive leader, and skilled collaborator who can lead cross-functional initiatives, elevate the success of others, and contribute to a team-first culture.
The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguity, zooming in and out across business challenges, and demonstrate a proven track record of turning around underperforming teams, building scalable processes, and delivering on both tactical execution and long-term vision.
- Location: Hybrid-Remote in Rocklin, CA
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
- Compensation: $190K - $239K
Responsibilities
- Drive the company’s financial decisions through policy, planning, and collaboration with senior leadership.
- Oversee AR/AP, payroll, general ledger, fleet, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Own and continuously improve the monthly close process - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
- Build robust and scalable forecasting and financial modeling tools.
- Create consolidated financial statements and customized reports tailored for executives and operational leaders.
- Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives across intake, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Champion collaborative problem-solving, ensuring Finance is seen as a partner across departments.
- Provide mentorship and development pathways for the Finance team. Ensure processes are documented, and succession planning is in place.
- Manage compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Partner with banking institutions, external CPAs, and advisors for audits, tax prep, and regulatory filings.
- Evaluate and manage risk; ensure adequate controls are in place to protect company assets.
- Contribute to vehicle fleet strategy and operational cost-effectiveness.

Requirements
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
- 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance
- 5+ years experience successfully managing a team of direct reports
Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year close process
- Ability to create, implement, and manage department process guidelines
- Delegate and properly allocate resources within the department and cross-functionally
- Lean business principles, flowchart processes, and value stream mapping and understanding a plus
- Advanced time management and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Presentation and public speaking
- Ability to handle a high volume of work and function in a fast-paced environment, on deadline
- Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Technology:
- Advanced proficiency using a computer, business phone, office software, video conferencing, and other computer programs including Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc.), CRM tools, and Excel
- Excellent knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Experience creating financial state
