What’s the role?

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the Entity Understanding team! This team is responsible for applying machine learning to create high quality structured data about Etsy entities (listings, buyers, queries, shops, collections).

As the Senior Product Manager, you will collaborate with various teams at Etsy, particularly those responsible for developing features for buyers. You will develop a roadmap that delivers capabilities that meet the requirements of these teams and enables them to work towards their goals. You’ll work closely with machine learning engineers, data scientists, taxonomists, and designers to bring the product roadmap to fruition.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Group Product Manager and the base salary range will be 149,000 - 193,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. As a two sided marketplace, understanding the quality of our structured data can be difficult. We are working to build inferences that fill the gap between what our sellers tell us about our inventory and what data we need to unlock personalized high impact customer experiences. The Entity Understanding team is one of the teams that make the Knowledge Base(KB) team at Etsy. The team is passionate about and dedicated to building an in-depth understanding of the unique world of Etsy. Our goal is to build, collect, and model product metadata to make sense of millions of unique items and users, enabling Etsy’s teams to craft relevant experiences. We are responsible for the end-to-end process of describing, collecting, enhancing and serving product and user structured data to our internal partner teams:

• Data structure to capture and collect information at scale from our sellers.
• ML capabilities to infer new labels and relationships and increase coverage and quality of our data.
• Storing and serving that data in a performant and accessible way.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Provide product leadership by setting product direction, defining clear measures of success and prioritizing the highest impact work for the team.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers on approaches to design, build and evaluate new capabilities.
• Work with partner teams to gather input and define priorities leading to product execution.
• Evangelize new capabilities across the company using the appropriate channels to drive adoption and impact
• Perform product discovery to identify areas of opportunities/improvements for new and existing capabilities.
• Partner with other teams in Knowledge Base to create new datasets, and make KB capabilities easily accessible to internal teams in the appropriate formats and channels.
