The Director of Medical Affairs is a pivotal leadership role responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships between the Company and healthcare professionals. The Director oversees a team of Clinical Specialists, ensuring effective collaboration and strategic execution for the Kerecis commercial business units.
The Director of Medical Affairs is based either on-site in a Kerecis office or in a home office. This full-time role reports to the Vice President of Medical Affairs.
Essential Functions:
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and clinical support to a team of Clinical Specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, medical professionals, and academic institutions within the medical device industry
- Scientific Expertise: Stay up to date with the latest medical advancements, clinical research, and emerging trends related to surgical and wound care markets, becoming a subject matter expert in Kerecis products
- Medical Education: Develop and deliver comprehensive external medical education programs to healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and other relevant stakeholders
- Abstract Submissions and Posters: Manage all abstract submissions and posters for internal medical education events and global trade shows. This includes overseeing the selection process, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, ensuring adherence to guidelines and deadlines, and facilitating the creation and presentation of high-quality posters
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic plans, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
- Field Support: Provide guidance and support to the team of Clinical Specialists, assisting in their efforts to educate healthcare professionals, resolve customer inquiries, and drive product adoption
- Market Intelligence: Conduct market research and analysis to gain insight into competitor activities, industry trends, and customer needs, contributing to the development of effective marketing strategies
- Compliance: Ensure company-wide adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, maintaining the highest ethical standards in all interactions with healthcare professionals

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and develop innovative solutions to achieve business objectives
- Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and key opinion leaders
- Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA regulations, industry guidelines, and ethical standards governing medical device companies
Education & Experience:
- A master’s degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field from an accredited college or university
- MD or DO level education and practice preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the medical device industry
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or managerial role in the medical device industry
Anticipated travel: 70-80%
