PURPOSE
The Financial Aid Advisor I, under direction, counsels and provides student financial aid and scholarship information to perspective and currently enrolled students and families. Assists in facilitating workshops and learns to make presentations on and off campus to groups regarding financial aid and scholarships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
FUNCTIONAL AREA 1: ADVISING STUDENTS
PERCENT EFFORT: 45%
Review and process repacks
One on One advising in person and virtually
Perform other duties as assigned
FUNCTIONAL AREA 2: OUTREACH EVENTS
PERCENT EFFORT: 30%
Visit all area high schools throughout Texas
Conduct presentations at all University events
Organize financial aid events
Travel with Admissions staff for recruiting events
FUNCTIONAL AREA 3: AWARD FINANCIAL AID
PERCENT EFFORT: 25%
Process awarding for pending FAFSA applications
Make adjustments to financial aid offers
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor's degree
Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum education:
Associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience
Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Oral and written communication skills
Customer Service skills
Ability to work individually or as a team
Ability to organize and make decisions
Ability to relate well with a various student population
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Experience in higher education
Financial Aid experience
